Featured on 100 Layer Cake - Allison & Brandon

image

Allison & Brandon were the perfect clients. Allison emailed us after seeing Cari & Jason’s save-the-date in Martha Stewart Weddings.

George and I consulted with both of them on speaker phone - both of them, together - which is so rare. They were friendly, excited, and best of all, they had a vision. Allison & Brandon got married in San Francisco and the venue was modern, urban, and industrial with beautiful watercolor paintings on the walls.

We created their invitations, menus, table cards, program poster, and more. This San Francisco wedding was picture perfect and we were so excited to be a small part of their big day.

09.10.09

On September 10, 2009, George & I semi-eloped to New York City Hall. We brought our immediate families and best friends/college roommates/amazing Atlanta wedding photographers, Kate & Matt of Altmix Photography.

During our week in the city, we went to a Yankees game, the Met, and a Broadway play. The “rehearsal dinner” was held at John’s Pizza, the “reception” at Gray’s Papaya & Buttercup Bake Shop, and our first dance was at the top of Rockefeller Center…can we go back now?

3 years later, we’ve moved, had plenty of jobs, made new friends, got the best French bulldog in the world, and started our own business. We are learning daily about what it means to work together, both as husband & wife and as business partners.

Years ago, I wouldn’t have believed that our first ever collaborative design (our very own wedding announcements) would be the reason we graced the pages of Martha Stewart Weddings.

It has been a wonderful adventure so far and I can’t wait to see what the future holds. Love you, George (and I hate being mushy on the internet, so if that doesn’t prove how much I love you - I don’t know what does).

New Memo Books!

As you may or may not know, we love Field Notes. Those little books help us with the sketching process, hold our daily to-do notes, and add a little design goodness to our everyday lives. So when we discovered Scout Books, we jumped at the chance to make our own memo books - with grid pages of course. Check them out!

If you order something with us in the near future you might find one of these in your bag!

Featured in Martha Stewart Weddings - Cari & Jason

image

About a year ago, we got an unexpected email from a woman named Cari. She found our wedding announcement through the blog of our dear friends, Altmix Photography, and wanted something similar for her save-the-dates. She also happened to be the editor of the Martha Stewart Weddings blog. Let’s just say, we were very excited to work with her.

Now, our design has been featured in Martha Stewart Weddings, both online and in print! We are happy to share the page with Hello!Lucky’s beautiful skyline wedding suite.

Bandwagon

On Sunday we had the extreme pleasure of going on a mini-adventure to Savannah to check out Bandwagon, a poster and record show at SCAD’s amazing Student Center. Some of the best-of-the-best in the poster & design biz were there, including the guys from Aesthetic Apparatus, the man behind Field Notes and all around design behemoth Aaron Draplin, Atlanta based printers Henry + Co., the guys from Wierhouse in Augusta, The Half and Half, Methane Studios, and new favorites Halftone Def from Jacksonville. Even though we now have more artwork than wallspace, we couldn’t resist buying some of our favorites.

This is a screenprint for one of my favorite bands, The Whigs. They always remind me of Athens and get me daydreaming about college. The guys at Wierhouse made this and actually took it out to the range and shot it to create the bulletholes. It doesn’t get cooler than that.

Another Whigs screenprint from Wierhouse.

The third Wierhouse print we bought - Drive By Truckers.

Promotional poster from Atlanta printers Henry + Co. Really cool guys. Can’t wait to work with them.

Definitely our favorite poster of the event - Avett Brothers screenprint from Halftone Def.

(Not until the ride home did we realize our affinity towards kraft paper & red and black ink. The heart wants what it wants.)

The highlight of Bandwagon was getting to meet Aaron Draplin of Draplin Design Company in Portland. Definitely as cool in person as he is in all those Youtube clips. We told him how much we love Field Notes and he gladly gave us a couple more for our collection.

Thanks to SCAD and all of these designers & printers for putting on such a great event!
